Aminata is a film from Sierra Leone that tackles the tradition of marrying young girls to older men in Africa. Many African films aren’t given the spotlight in the US that other foreign films are, so here’s a way to spread the word about some of the more popular films available!

She was young and beautiful. She came from a poor family and a village were everyone worships the king. The king can marry anyone he wants at any time even if it is someone’s wife. The king asked her hand in marriage, not withstanding how young she was. She objected to it but her parents had no choice but to give her hand in marriage or else they would be banished from the land. She later ran away but with a secret.

A Paradise film production starring Dr. Julius Spencer, Aissatou Bah, Mohamed Bobson Kamara, and Denis Nelson. Director Jimmy Y. Bangura. Screenplay Muctarr Cole. D.O.P. Abdul Gafaru Abdul Rahim. Producer Jimmy B.
