Perth-based Elixir Petroleum has completed a 1,222
square kilometer (471.8 square mile) 3D seismic acquisition program on
Block SL-4 offshore Sierra Leone. Processing of the 3D data set has
begun, with the data expected to be available by the end of the year.
The data will then be interpreted by Elixir in the first quarter of
2009.
Elixir Managing Director Andrew Ross commented, "As recently
appointed operator of Block SL-4, we are delighted that the first
in-field activities have been successfully completed on time and on
budget. The newly acquired 3D data will allow us to better refine the
play types and very large targets previously identified from the
existing high quality 2D seismic data set."
Elixir holds a 35 percent interest in Block SL-4. Water depths on
the block range from 100 meters to 3,500 meters (328 ft to 11,482 ft)
over 4,429 square kilometers (1,710 square miles).
