Vikas Raisinghani--husband of Preeti who committed suicide in Sierra Leone due to dowry harassment
Three
days ago, TIMES NOW unravelled the story of -- Preeti Raisinghani --
a newly wed bride who committed suicide barely 12 days after joining
her husband -- Vikas Raisinghani -- in Seirra Leone. While her family
claimed that she committed suicide due to dowry harassment, her husband
has a different story to tell.
Our channel had earlier reported
that Preeti's family was being blackmailed by her husband, who had
demanded Rs 15 lakh to sent her body back to India to her loved one's.
In
a bid to delve deeper into the case, TIMES NOW correspondent travelled
all the way to Sierra Leone in West Africa to track down Preeti's
husband and gather his side of the story.
When quizzed, Preeti's
husband -- Vikas Raisinghani -- denied all dowry harassment charges
against him and his family and categorically said:"The allegations
against my family are false. We used to have small fights, which is
quiet common in every other marriage, however, that did not require
her to commit suicide."
Barely twelve days after joining her
husband in Sierra Leone, Preeti committed suicide. The case appears
to be of dowry harassment . Her in-laws, meanwhile, have been arrested
after refusing to send her body back to her parents. Preeti's sorry
saga began soon after her marriage to Vikas, a store manager with a
company in Sierra Leone. Preeti's family thought the demands for dowry
in Mumbai would end once she joined her husband. However, little did
they know about what lay ahead. Twelve days after her departure, a call
came from Vikas's parents that Preeti had killed herself with no
explanations whatsoever.
