mongolia_flag.jpgULAN BATOR, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia decided Wednesday to send its fifth batch of peacekeepers to Sierra Leone, the government's press office said Thursday.

The fifth batch of over 200 peacekeepers will be responsible for patrol missions to protect the UN-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone and its personnel.

Mongolia had obtained 5.9 million U.S. dollars from the United Nations for the peacekeeping mission, said the press office.

Mongolia sent its first batch of more than 200 peacekeepers to Sierra Leone in January 2006.

In recent years, Mongolia has been actively involved in international peacekeeping missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Sierra Leone.
