A blind man, an albino and the first non-celebrity Big Brother couple have
made their debut in the ninth series of the reality show.
The couple are Lisa, 40, and Sylvester Stallone doppelganger Mario, 42, who
boasts that he and his girlfriend have sex at least once a day.
Lisa says the most significant event in her life was when Mario, who claims
to have slept with more than 200 women, sold a Rolex watch to buy her breast
enlargement surgery.
The 16 housemates also include Ipswich-born songwriter Darnell, 26, an albino
who was deported back to the UK from the US after getting involved in gang
culture.
Blind contestant Michael, a radio producer who calls himself Mikey, 33, lost
his sight 10 years ago during an operation.
This year's series features Girls Aloud reject Stephanie McMichael, 19, who
was kicked off Popstars: The Rivals when producers discovered she had lied about
her age. She once dated former Big Brother winner Anthony Hutton, who famously
got intimate with Makosi on the Channel 4 reality show.
Three of the housemates this year were born abroad. Kathreya, 30, a rotund
massage therapist originally from Thailand, is obsessed with cookies and carries
a cookie jar everywhere she goes.
Sylvia, 21, from south London, fled from Sierra Leone with her family at the
age of 11. Mohamed, 23, a toy demonstrator at Hamleys in London, was born in
Somalia.
Wannabes also include a single mother who converted from Christianity to
Islam and a 20-year-old Conservative Party supporter who is a part-time
pro-wrestling announcer.
Big Brother has promised that this year's contestants will not have an easy
life in the house, and that the game-playing will begin immediately.
