I read with considerable interest the article about the slave cabins at Magnolia Gardens being opened by Isaiah Washington. As you know, this plantation lies about 10 miles outside Charleston in South Carolina, USA. I am aware that the Director of the Goree Island Museum visited Drayton Hall on another occasion. My great-great grandfather was the younger brother of the owner of Magnolia Gardens. He emigrated with his family shortly before the American Civil War to take up a post in his father-in-law's coal-mining company. I shall be in Charleston again the 2nd week in November this year. One day I will visit Sierra Leone. All the best, Bill Drayton.

Does anyone know how to get a copy of Poems of War? I am related to Tom Cauuray, who was an author and active participant in the group and would like to purchase a copy for his daughter. Please respond to Katiduncan@yahoo.com

Interesting website and if you can broaden the scope of the gallery to include fishing and agriculture, it would add to the interest. BUT please ensure the right captions go with the right pictures. Keep up the good work. ![]() 30 guestbook entries |
